Last November 3 to 4, Center for Social Responsibility Executive Director Mr. Colin Legarde Hubo attended the seminar “Promoting CSR and Human Rights in ASEAN” in Singapore. Mr. Hubo had been invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore and the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR).
The seminar served as a follow-up to the recommendations outlined in the 2014 “Baseline Study on CSR and Human Rights” conducted by AICHR, which Singapore led. The seminar also explored the elements that could form a set of regional guidelines on CSR and Human Rights in ASEAN.
It was co-sponsored by the Regional EU-ASEAN Dialogue Instrument Human Rights Facility (READI HRF) as well as the United Nations Development Programme.
Mr. Hubo was also a speaker at the Emerging Leaders’ Dialogues Asia (ELDA) in Malaysia held last October 20 to November 1. Under the patronage of the Princess Royal, Princess Anne, the Commonwealth Study Conference Association of Malaysia (COSCAM) and Association of Emerging Leaders’ Dialogue (AELD), the objective of the flagship initiative was to help identify, encourage and build leadership competencies.
Focusing on “Leadership for Sustainable Development”, ELDA 2016 provided unique opportunities for meaningful interaction, the exchange of knowledge and ideas for new-age development, the application of cross-cultural technologies, and, most importantly, learning leadership best practices across sectors.
Institutionalised in 1956 in commonwealth and non-commonwealth countries, ELDA also offers a unique two-week leadership experience built on the proven model of the Duke of Edinburgh Commonwealth Study Conferences.
