The 2016 Asia-Pacific Tambuli Awards was recently held at the New World Hotel in Makati to recognize brands that do good, do well, and seamlessly integrate creativity, human good, and results. Celebrating their tenth anniversary, Tambuli introduced two special awards: the Tambuli Lifetime Achievement Award and the Tambuli Crimson.
The Tambuli Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Mr. Javier Jose Calero, former Chairman and CEO of J. Walter Thompson Philippines, serving as Chairman for eight years, President for fifteen years, and Regional Director International Vice President for seven years. Mr. Calero is also a member of the UA&P Board of Trustees.
The Tambuli Crimson, on the other hand, was awarded to two individuals: first to adobo magazine Founder, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief Angel Guerrero for bringing Philippine advertising into the regional and global stage, and to Department of Tourism Sec. Mon Jimenez for his valuable contribution as Secretary of Tourism of the Republic of the Philippines, in promoting the Philippines globally through the excellent use of marketing communications.
Tambuli awarded the Best Decade Award to McCann Melbourne for their “Dumb Ways to Die” campaign (launched in 2012) for being one of the most effective campaigns in the last ten years.
Top awardees include Ms. Gina Lorenzana, Vice President for Personal Care at Unilever Philippines, who was awarded Chief Marketing Communications Officer of the Year; Mullen Lowe Group was named Network of the Year after bagging twenty-two awards, including Agency of the Year, the Grand Prix award and four Gold awards from MullenLowe Lintas India. Two of those Gold awards was shared by Unilever Ltd. India, making them Advertiser of the Year.
Organized by the School of Communication of the University of Asia and the Pacific, the Asia-Pacific Tambuli Awards focuses on mainstream brand campaigns that celebrate humanity, inspire purpose, and deliver results.
